Solar Panel

Are there goverment grants for solar panels for residential? I live in New Jersey. USA. Or are there any experimental research companies that will install solar panels for free in return for their research purposes?
I just emailed the US Dept of Energy asking them the same question. Anyone know about the US Dept of Energy? What do they do?

I’m interested in adding solar panels to my house to help cut energy costs.
Also, I think it would just be a neat project to do.
I’m reasonably handy and have heard about programs to help with supply of solar panels and installation for DIY solar.
Does anybody know of a good one?

I’m interested in installing myself but have no knowledge of solar panels.Can the excess be sold back to the national grid and how does that work?. What is the average cost?. Where is the best place to get all the equipment from?. Does anyone sell kits for individuals with everything needed included.? What can be run off an average size panel. What is the best size panel to start with?.
